Healthy Food for Everyone

Monmouthshire Food Partnership envisions providing access to nutritious, planet-friendly food for all, alongside education and skills to prevent health issues caused by poor diet, irrespective of income.

A Good Food Movement

Monmouthshire residents are invested in their food and drink, gathering to grow, prepare, and share it while fostering community and a connection to the land.

Sustainable Food Economy

Monmouthshire’s food and drink industry thrives sustainably and ethically, with fair work and pay and a reputation for excellent produce that attracts both permanent residents and seasonal visitors.

Food for the Planet

Monmouthshire prioritises sustainable land management and farming, education on eco-friendly food choices, and the reduction of food and packaging waste.

What can I do?

Here are a few simple ideas to get started on your good food journey.



Cook: Make meals from scratch at least twice a week, and plan to use up all your leftovers – there are lots of recipes online (e.g. BBC Food pages or supermarket recipe pages)
Buy: Shop from local, independent producers if you can, and always buy British in the supermarket.
Learn: Find out about food production, for example by listening to podcasts or following farmers on social media.


Businesses & Organisations

Source: Know your supply chain and buy from local, certified and fair-trade sources; if you can’t source locally, at least aim to buy British.
Promote: If you’re sourcing food from local, British, and/or certified suppliers, make sure your customers and employees know you’re doing it!
Reduce: Cut food and packaging waste, for example by offering smaller portions for smaller appetites, encouraging customers to bring their own containers, and allowing diners to take leftovers home.



Measure: Collect data and use it to improve your business performance – good environmental and economic outcomes often go hand-in-hand.
Adopt: Integrate regenerative farming practices into your system – start small and work up gradually.
Educate: Take steps to help the public understand what you do and why.
